After a ton of work to remake the legs and shoes (and several other improvements), Samus is officially ready to wear to a con for the very first time! I'll be at PAX West at the beginning of Friday and Saturday for as long as I can last, probably mostly in the lobby areas but I also plan to slowly make my way to the Nintendo booth at some point. If you're attending come find me and say hi!

I finally had the time to sit down and write about my build process and post a bunch of pictures. Head on over to my thread on the RPF to check it out!

PAX Prime 2015 was a blast! It was amazing finally getting to wear a costume to a con and seeing everyone's reactions. When I finally get to wear Samus it's going to be chaos in comparison!

I've already started on my next cosplay. Woo!

I've begun a thread over on the RPF forums which will be where I post my progress on my second costume: M'aiq the Liar from Skyrim. I'm super excited to get going on this one! The goal is to have it done for PAX Prime 2015.

I recently finished my first cosplay ever, Samus Aran. You can check out my build progress in my thread over on The RPF!

TL;DR
- The helmet, shoulders, chest, arm cannon, elbows, and forearm are all 3D printed.
- The upper arms, thighs, shoe tongues, and shins are craft foam covered in Worbla.
- The shoes and lower torso are just craft foam.
- The glove is just Worbla.

- I 3D modeled the prints all on my own.
- It took me over 2 years to complete.
- It cost approximately $3000, with the 3D prints costing about $1200 (cost of materials only - it would likely cost 3 to 4 times that much if done via a 3D printing company).
- My friend Matt Serle ran the prints for me on his Zcorp 450 3D printer, which prints by laying down a thin layer of plaster powder and injecting a liquid binder.
- The printer bed is 8"x10"x8" so most of the armor had to be printed in multiple pieces and then glued together.
